Generally the process is fairly simple.
The new lender will review the borrower’s application and ask for related paperwork including proof of income, outstanding debts and expenditure.
A home valuation is also required. This valuation may be less intense than the type required for an initial mortgage with the surveyor viewing the exterior of the borrower’s property and asking a few pertinent questions. In some cases a full valuation is required.
Borrowers may be required to pay for the valuation and the legal fees. The amounts charged for a re-mortgage vary from lender to lender.
